92   Champagne Pommery, 1998 Cuvée Louise
Reims
Pale straw hue. A slight herbaceousness on the nose intrudes on an otherwise pleasant mineral and citrus aromas. 95   Champagne Pommery, 1996 Cuvée Louise

Powerful acidity cloaked in warm, melded fruit that continues across the very long finish. $675 (Magnum)

94   Champagne Pommery, Cuvée Louise 1990
Reims
Medium straw hue. Inviting mellow yellow fruit aromas with just a hint of mineral. Displays remarkable length with warm biscuit, light red fruit and chalky minerality; a touch of candied lemon surfaces at the back of a very long finish. A warm and quite appealing wine. $675 (Magnum; disgorged for the Millennium and therefore held on the lees an extra two years until 1999.)

94   Champagne Pommery, Cuvée Louise 1995
Reims
Shimmering, straw-gold hue of hypnotic depth. Persistent mousse brings forth aromas of orange peel and light red fruit notes. Red fruit is intensified in the mouth with highlights of dry lemon and orange peel. Hints of hazelnut and hawthorn are beginning to emerge as the chardonnay ages. Exceptionally long finish. $180 (Disgorged 2004)

90   Champagne Pommery, Cuvée Louise 1987
Reims
Mature, burnished gold hue. Aromas of toasted brioche, hazelnut and cocoa. Great intensity of flavor with buttery lemon, nuts and toasted brioche prominent; fades rather quickly. (Maturity was poor across much of Champagne in 1987 and Pommery was one of the few houses to release a vintage wine.) $N/A (Disgorged 1995)

89   Champagne Pommery, Cuvée Louise 1981
Reims
Bronze hue with rose-gold highlights; creamy, quite active mousse. The nose and palate both offer Asian spices and leather with a hint of citrus. Clean, acidic finish. (1981 was a small harvest and maturation was quite late with the harvest beginning at the end of September.) $N/A
